II Timothy 2:1-2. “You therefore my son be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
Mike and his family joined the staff of Oxford Baptist in May of 2010. He has served in Student Ministry for over fifteen years. Prior to coming to Oxford he and his family served for 2 years at Millers Creek Baptist Church in Millers Creek, North Carolina, where he was the Student Pastor for junior high, high school and college level ministries. He also served for eight years at Gateway Baptist Church in Newton, North Carolina as Youth and Children’s Pastor and he served for two years as part-time Youth Pastor at Monticello Baptist Church in Statesville, North Carolina. His love for youth and children’s ministry began through the ministry of Tri-City Baptist church in Conover, North Carolina.
Mike attended Tabernacle Christian School in Greenville, South Carolina and graduated in 1983. He gave his heart and life to the Lord on September 25th, 1994, and he felt God calling him into full time Christian service of April of 1995. He later attended Fruitland Bible Institute in Hendersonville, N.C. He also graduated from Liberty University, in Lynchburg, VA through their external diploma program and also certified through Light University an affiliate of Liberty University and the AACC, American Association of Christian Counselors for teens.
Mike has been married to Rebecca Frye Mckinney since Nov. 16, 1985. They have four children. Anna, Rachel, Andrew and Matthew. His ministry objective is to first honor Christ with his life, minister to those who are in need, and to be an encouragement to those who are hurting and to see boys and girls of all ages come to a saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and to train them to serve Him.
Mike’s hobbies include, golf, basketball and reading.
