Karen was raised in a Christian home and taught to serve the Lord with all her heart. So it was to be in the area of church music that she would be able to serve Him doing something that she completely loved and recognized as a God-given talent. Currently she is serving Him as the choral director of the OBC Jubilee Adult choir and helps oversee the choral activities of the children ministry.
Karen has been a member of OBC and the choir since the winter of 2001. It was here at OBC that she met her husband, Barton, and they wed in June of 2004. Their family is located here in Conover, and they have one son, Brandon, who attends Saint Stephens High School. Lord willing, they desire to adopt in the future.
Together they are involved in many facets of OBC church life including choir, solo and quartet ministries, AWANA, Sunday school as the teachers of the College and Career class, as well as active participants in both the Ladies and Men’s Ministries respectively.
It is Karen’s desire that first and foremost that God get all the glory for the things He has done! He has used her in way that leaves her in awe of His mercy and grace. She also desires to promote an atmosphere of worship in our services through the music program and see more of God’s people learn to serve Him in gladness and joy.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. Psalm 100:4
